Discover the Tunbridge Wells salon brought to life by a dynamic nail duo

The Nail Nest – a stunning salon in Tunbridge Wells, Kent – is the passion project of nail techs, Alice Knight and Shurun Li.
The duo met while working in the same salon and decided to combine their 20 years of experience to create The Nail Nest.
“We found kindred spirits in each other,” say Alice and Shurun. “Our goals aligned and we had one vision: to have a small space to call our own, decorated to our taste, where we can do the job we love.”
Thus, The Nail Nest was born. “We fell into a natural partnership; Shurun is practical, realistic and a project manager – and I buy the cushions,” Alice laughs.
The salon is light and airy, featuring a neutral colour palette, wood panelling and linen accents, while pops of olive green have become the studio’s signature shade.
“Our pedicure platform is a key feature,” the pair notes. “It’s a cosy corner, where every detail was thought-out to make each service as practical for the technician as possible, and equally as comfortable for the client.”
Situated on a busy road in Tunbridge Wells, the peaceful interior creates ‘a calm escape from reality as soon as you step in and close the door’.
The dedicated duo offers a wide range of services, including CND Shellac™ manicures, gel extensions and builder gel services. CND Shellac™manicures are most popular, and Alice, who specialises in hand-painted nail art, has been an ambassador for the brand for two years.

“I’m a proud UK ambassador for CND™,” Alice comments. “[It is] a brand which prioritises nail health and is at the forefront of product innovation.” Meanwhile, Shurun originally trained in her home country, China, and her focus is on delivering ‘high-quality results for every manicure and pedicure’.
Alice and Shurun are known for their bubbly personalities and ‘creating a fun, chatty space, full of laughter’. “Many of our clients say that a visit to The Nail Nest is like visiting a friend: a mood-boosting experience and therapy session in one,” they share.
“We believe that our salon provides more than just beautiful nails. It’s a safe space for venting, laughter and even tears, where you’ll always leave feeling happier than when you arrived.”
The space is also pet-friendly: “We often get furry visitors, which always brightens our day,” Alice and Shurun grin.
Alongside welcoming new clients ‘from far and wide’, the pair’s hope for the future is to ‘continue working and laughing from our beautiful salon’.
