Inside the Kent home nail salon that exudes total calm

Since qualifying as a nail tech in 2017, Vicky Horne has built a successful career, with achievements including an ambassadorship with a major nail brand.
Vicky began her nail journey as a mobile tech, travelling between clients’ homes to deliver professional services. In time, she brought her business home to Rochester, initially working from her house extension. But with a young family and growing clientele, a dedicated workspace became essential.
“I wanted to provide the ultimate calm and relaxing experience for client appointments,” Vicky explains. “Not only would this be a nicer way for me to work, but a beautiful, comfortable and clean environment for clients – with no noise interruptions.”
Vicky’s garden salon, Victoria’s Nails & Beauty, was born from hard work. “My salon was built by my husband; he put so much hard work into helping my dream become a reality” Vicky reveals. “It took around six months for him to build. We spent hours decorating, choosing flooring and picking interior furniture.”
The pair ensured the space has everything needed for sustained success. “I have running water, heating and direct access via a well-lit side entrance,” Vicky notes. A TV on the wall means clients can watch something of their choosing during their appointments or unwind to music, creating the relaxed atmosphere Vicky had always envisioned.
Originally fitted out in grey, the salon has recently been refreshed with beige and neutral tones. “These colours are very popular at the moment and I want to keep up-to-date with what’s on-trend,” Vicky says.

The salon owner offers builder gel and gel polish manicures, L&P acrylic extensions and pedicures, alongside brow and lash treatments. “Builder gel is my most popular service. It allows people to grow beautiful, strong natural nails without the need for extensions,” Vicky comments.
Vicky works with Halo products as a Halo VIP. “I absolutely love the brand,” she says. “The products have great retention, amazing pigmentation and are a joy to work with.”
The future looks bright for Victoria’s Nails & Beauty, with Vicky committed to growth. “I plan on continuing to train and furthering my knowledge of all things nails and beauty,” she says. “My clients deserve the best, most up-to-date services I can offer.”
