Stratford-upon-Avon nail tech to complete 24-hour nailathon for children’s hospice

Stratford-upon-Avon is best known as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. But this April, another local is about to have her moment in the spotlight – and unlike the Bard, she’ll be doing it armed with nail products, an E-File and a whole lot of coffee…

Alice Horgan has been working as a self-employed nail tech at Taylor Made Nails in Stratford-upon-Avon for two and a half years. “I wasn’t enjoying my previous career and an opportunity came up to do a nail course, which appealed to my creative side,” Alice says.

“I initially had a home salon, but ended up at Taylor Made Nails,” she continues. “It built my confidence working with other nail techs and I haven’t looked back.”
Alice has decided to take on a mighty venture in April: a 24-hour Nailathon, completing back-to-back appointments every hour. “I wanted to do something to step outside my comfort zone and support a local charity,” she comments. “I also wanted to prove that the nail industry can be part of something bigger, and use my platform to raise meaningful funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice.”

Acorns Children’s Hospice is a West Midlands-based charity offering practical support to children with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families. “The team helps make every day count,” Alice says. “They offer care, fun experiences and comfort when families need it most.”

To raise as much money as possible for the charity, Alice’s 24-hour Nailathon is accompanied by a raffle featuring prizes such as six months of free nail treatments, a luxury facial voucher, hair straighteners and a paddle boarding experience. Alice also has a JustGiving page here.

Though understandably nervous, Alice is excited by the endeavour, and says she has everything she needs to complete her mission. “I’ve got Jules, who owns the salon, giving me moral support the whole way through,” she smiles. “She has also promised to provide me with snacks and coffee all night.

“My NIBOVI E-file will be my best friend throughout the event,” Alice continues. “It will help me stay on time with all of my clients.”
Clients are invited to sign up for a slot during the 24 hours and are allowed free reign when it comes to their design of choice. “There won’t be a set menu for clients; they can have whatever they want,” Alice shares. “Secretly, I am hoping at 3am they will be wanting plain builder gel manicures!”
